Over the last decade, mobile video-editing software has become increasingly sophisticated, and there are now a whole host of options with a range of features. Mobile video-editing software is great for when you’re on the go, and want to capture and share film in the moment.

As a video production company that makes corporate videos for major brands, we use the best software on the market – but we also enjoy playing with the latest video-editing apps in our spare time. Here’s our list of the best video maker apps available for download – curated by our team of skilled production professionals.

iMovie

Apple’s own video editing app is one of the the best video maker apps. It’s a powerful tool that lets you edit clips on an iPhone or iPad before sharing them. It’s free to download on all Apple devices, but there are some in-app charges.

Horizon Camera

Horizon allows you to record in landscape, so you don’t have to worry about the way you hold your device. With up to 2k resolution, you can record in slow motion at the tap and hold of a button, and it has eight real-time video filters. It’s free to download and is available on iPhone, iPad and Android.

Hyperlapse from Instagram

Hyperlapse is a pretty impressive app for shooting high quality time-lapse videos without a tripod. When your video is complete, you can make it up to 12x the original speed, and it smooths out even the shakiest shots. It’s free to download and works on iPhone and iPad.

Adobe Premiere Clip

Premiere Clip is great for editing photos and video together on the go with its drag-and-drop interface. It’s easy to add media, transitions and music, and you can import custom effects from other tools. It also allows you to export your finished work to Creative Cloud. It’s free to download and is available on iPhone, iPad and Android.

Pinnacle Studio Pro

Pinnacle Studio Pro has some sophisticated features, making it one of the best video maker apps for professionals. You can use it to arrange (and rearrange) your clips in a storyboard and add transitions, effects and a soundtrack. You can also trim individual frames, create slow and fast motion segments, add motion titles, pan and zoom on your photos and edit audio. It costs £12.99 and works with iPhone and iPad.
